Golden Gate Park: 32 rose plants in Golden Gate Park vandalized

32 rose plants in Golden Gate Park, leaving behind all the trimmings, including the blooms. The Rose Garden destruction, found by a dog walker early Thursday morning, has left park officials baffled and wondering if the work was that of a serial flora killer in San Francisco's most famous park.

After nearly four dozen trees have been deliberately destroyed in Golden Gate Park and Lincoln Park since May.Officials don't know if the tree and rose incidents are connected, but they haven't discounted a link.

Elton Pon, spokesman for the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, said Friday. Authorities have no suspects. A $2,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the tree slayer. Officials are considering extending the offer in an attempt to catch.

32 hybrid tea rose plants in three adjacent beds were severed, said Michael McGoldrick, the gardener assigned to the Rose Garden. The plants, which were in full bloom, were well-established, probably 15 to 20 years old.For the most part, he said, the cuts were clean, probably the work of someone using loppers or hand shears.

Who serves on the San Francisco Rose Society board, whose members volunteer to help tend the public beds, "a lot of the cuts were in the wrong place. This was not pruning we're talking about. This was destruction.Dowling, who has surveyed the damage firsthand, said the plants probably will survive.

His heart fell and his anger rose when he saw what had happened. "This was deliberate and malicious," he said.I am just glad they stopped at three beds. The Rose Garden, on the north side of the park, is located between John F. Kennedy Drive and Fulton Street, just east of Park Presidio Boulevard. There are more than 60 English-style beds in the fragrant garden.

The Struck three varieties: Perfect Moment, Broadway and White Delight. The gardeners planted a stake in the middle bed with a hand-lettered sign that says, Roses have been vandalized.Occasionally, individual flowers in the Rose Garden are stolen, but park gardeners don't remember something on this scale.

Park rangers and city police will step up patrols, but there are no plans to set up surveillance cameras. Between the damaged trees and roses, the locations have been scattered.Golden Gate Park alone is 1,017 acres.McGoldrick, summoned to the scene by colleagues who got there first, said that given the amount of cutting.

There are no lights in the garden, which is tucked away from the busy streets and pathways. The Rose Garden is something for everybody to enjoy," McGoldrick said.

Sexy bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra to play Indira Gandhi?

Super hit bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit backed out from the project on personal grounds, Indian origin US filmmaker Krishna Shah is now considering casting Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra in the lead role in a biopic on late prime minister Indira Gandhi.

It will be a big-budget two-part movie on the life of the Indian leader who was known as Iron Lady. Shah is working on the casting with Academy Award winning make-up artiste Jenny Shircore. After going through the photographs of many Indian actresses, Shircore believes that Priyanka is the only Bollywood actress whom she can make look like Indira Gandhi after some prosthetic work on her face.Priyanka is the one who can fit in the character of Indira, but it will be too premature to talk about casting as we have not approached anybody as yet," Shah said in a statement.Shah is reportedly also in conversation with other actors like Albert Finney, Emily Watson, Tom Hanks and Tommy Lee Jones to play other characters in the film.

The movie will be based on Indira Gandhi's life till the 1971 war, while part two will look more into her personal life as a mother to her sons -- Rajiv, who succeeded her as the prie minister. The script of the movie has also undergone changes. The script has been reworked after I got my hands on Richard Nixon’s personal tapes related to the 1971 Bangladesh War. My research has changed the script a lot and now we are looking at casting an appropriate face for Indira Gandhi’s character," said Shah.

Snooki Denied might be in the market for another nickname soon. When she tried to trademark her ever so famous name, she was denied. And it's all because of a fictional cat!

Hollywood Movies: 7 Awesome End of the World Movies

Hollywood comes up with some really outlandish ideas. Some are truly outlandish (The Blob), some are just plain creepy (Night of the Living Dead) and some are just plain stupid (2012).

1) Terminator

James Cameron wrote and directed this science fiction classic, Terminator. For those who don’t know the story, a cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is sent from the future on a deadly mission. He has to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), a young woman whose life will have a great significance in years to come. Sarah has only one protector – Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) - also sent from the future. The future of the human race depends on which one finds her first.

2) The Stand

The Stand has to be included simply because it is truly one of the best end of the world movies ever! (And also because it was written by one of the best horror writers ever, Stephen King). The premise?: after a virus escapes from a government research facility, most of mankind is wiped out. Those who are immune from the virus subsequently form into two camps. The first is lead by Mother Abigail and the second by Randall Flagg. Within a few months, it becomes apparent that those who support good will need to confront evil if they are to survive.

3) Wall-E

Humans decide to fly off into space and leave a set of robots to do the cleaning up. Wall-E however, has grown a personality during his time on earth and when he’s not compacting trash into skyscrapers he’s busy trying to figure out what all this junk was used for. With its beautiful imagery, lovely songs and Wall-E’s soulful eyes.

4) Independence Day

The ultimate encounter when mysterious and powerful aliens launch an all out invasion against the human race. The spectacle begins when massive spaceships appear in Earth’s skies. But wonder turns to terror as the ships blast destructive beams of fire down on cities all over the planet. Now the world’s only hope lies with a determined band of survivors, uniting for one last strike against the invaders – before it’s the end of mankind.

5) Planet of the Apes

Thinking they are alone, the surprise comes when life forms appear, not just as mute humans but as apes. Walking, talking apes. The apes see themselves as the original beings on the planet and do anything to keep all humans locked up. Like most good science fiction, Planet of the Apes combines action, adventure, futuristic settings, and allegory into an entertaining whole.

6) 28 Days Later

The plot depicts the breakdown of society following the accidental release of a highly contagious “rage” virus and focuses upon the struggle of four survivors to cope with the end of the life they once knew. Cillian Murphy is awesome as the confused Jim, who wakes from a coma to find everyone (or almost everyone) gone or dead.

7) Children of Men

Humankind is facing the likelihood of its own extinction due to an infertility defect in the population. Enter Theo Faron (Clive Owen) who attempts to protect the last pregnant woman on Earth and helps to restore faith and a future for mankind. All I have to say is that if I was the last pregnant woman on Earth.

A different Don Giovanni: Mozart in the forest

There was so much to like in Monday's new production premiere of Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival that it's difficult to know where to start.

Uncounted stagings have faltered either because they were too conventional — a.k.a. boring — or so desperately wannabe avant garde that they clashed with the original story; a dissolute rake meets his just fate, death and damnation after a life of debauchery, coupled with murder.

We had a major redo Monday but presented through the refreshing prism of director Claus Guth and the result was as if a moth-eaten carpet was taken out.

A constantly changing diorama mounted on a rotating stage with props added or disappearing out of sight of the audience. Some of the unusual objects seen on stage Monday: a full-size car driving through the woods that serves as the venue for a tete-a-tete between the Don and one of his paramours; a rural bus stop, with the same function.

Italian nobleman of the classic opera and his manservant were turned here into two hipsters, into beer and recreational drugs and replete with all the gestures that transmit coolness. Strangely, the libretto fits these dudes despite its age.

Christopher Maltmann was a fabulous Don Giovanni in voice and dramatic expression, upstaged only slightly by Erwin Schrott as the servant Leporello. But they were best together: Leporello, the bass, the straight-man to the Don.

Don's objects of desire added to the musical delights. The mature timbre of Dorothea Roeschmann as Donna Elivra; the fresh sound of Aleksandra Kurzak as Donna Anna, and the bubbly enthusiasm of Anna Prohaska as Zerlina.

Don Ottavio covered for a sick Joseph Kaiser with admirable constancy and growing vocal confidence. And in the pit, Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducted a supreme ensemble that shifted effortlessly from the tight unit underpinning the soloists on stage to the poignant solo woodwind or harp that heralded the start of one of the singer's.

The mood turns sinister even before Donna Anna's father, murdered by the Don, turns up in the gloom to start digging his killer's grave. Then, within minutes, the death cry of a reprobate who chooses the grave instead of redemption.

Oscar winning actress Patricia Neal dies!

Oscar-winning actress Patricia Neal actress who won an Academy Award for 1963's "Hud" and then survived several strokes to continue acting, died on Sunday. She was 84.Neal had lung cancer and died surrounded by her family at her home in Edgartown, Mass., on Martha's Vineyard. She faced her final illness as she had all of the many trials she endured: with indomitable grace, good humor and a great deal of her self-described stubbornness," her family said in a statement.

Neal was already an award-winning Broadway actress when she won her Oscar for her role as a housekeeper to the Texas father (Melvyn Douglas) battling his selfish, amoral son (Paul Newman).Less than two years later, she suffered a series of strokes in 1965 at age 39. Her struggle to once again walk and talk is regarded as epic in the annals of stroke rehabilitation.

The Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center that helps people recover from strokes and spinal cord and brain injuries is named for her in Knoxville, where she grew up.She never forgot us after she went to Hollywood," said 85-year-old Bud Albers, who graduated with Neal from Knoxville High School in 1943, and still lives in the city.

"She was so courageous," he said of her battling back from her illnesses and losing her 7-year-old daughter to measles in 1962. "She always fought back. She was very much an inspiration. In her 1988 autobiography, "As I Am," she wrote, "Frequently my life has been likened to a Greek tragedy, and the actress in me cannot deny that comparison."

She had the female leads in the 1949 film version of Ayn Rand's novel "The Fountainhead," the classic 1951 science fiction film "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and Elia Kazan's 1957 drama "A Face in the Crowd."

She made a grand return to the screen after her strokes in 1968, winning an Oscar nomination for her performance in "The Subject Was Roses."

A Christmas Story," a made-for-TV film that served as the pilot for the CBS series "The Waltons." It brought her the first of her three Emmy nominations. In 1953, she married Roald Dahl, the British writer famed for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "James and the Giant Peach" and other tales for children. They had five children. They divorced in 1983 after she learned he was having an affair with her best friend and he died in 1990.

Neal also suffered a nervous breakdown, and had an ill-fated affair with Gary Cooper, who starred with her in "The Fountainhead."I lived this secret life for several years. I was so ashamed," she told The New York Times in 1964.The strokes at first paralyzed her and impaired her speech. After recovering, she limped and had bad vision in one eye. A 1991 biopic about her travails starred Glenda Jackson as Neal.

In 1999, she starred in her first feature film in 10 years in the title role in Robert Altman's "Cookie's Fortune."

Her Broadway credits included "A Roomful of Roses," "The Miracle Worker" (as Helen Keller's mother, Kate) and a revival of Lillian Hellman's drama "The Children's Hour. She made her screen debut in 1949's "John Loves Mary," that also starred Jack Carson and Ronald Reagan.

Her three Emmy nominations were all for roles in notable drama specials: Besides The Homecoming, they were Tail Gunner Joe, a 1977 drama about Sen. Joe McCarthy, and a version of the tragic World War I story "All Quiet on the Western Front.Among Neal's children is Tessa Dahl, who followed in her father's footsteps as a writer. Tessa Dahl's daughter is the model and writer Sophie Dahl.

I don't lie down. ... I'm fightin' all the way,she said in 1999.The statement from Tessa, Theo, Ophelia and Lucy Dahl and others said that the night before her death, Neal told them, "I've had a lovely time."

Lauren Conrad: Heidi Montag Misses Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad used to be a relatively normal girl with a fabulous life. Now she's friendless, plastic, and almost divorced. My, how life has changed.Heidi Montag has been fairly quiet on Twitter lately, unlike her soon-to-be ex-husband, Spencer Pratt.

The other day, Heidi tweeted, "watching old hills i miss you @AudrinaPatridge and most of all @laurenconrad. It's kind of sad in a way.

After all, when we first met Heidi, she and Lauren were best friends forever.

But we think it's far too late and things can never be the same. Heidi really did go off the deep end and show her true colors.

She certainly can't turn back time on her 10 plastic surgeries.

Neither Lauren Conrad or Audrina Patridge responded to Heidi on Twitter and we doubt they will.

If Heidi wants to live the kind of life she used to live, she needs to make major life changes.

Best 11 Cartoons That Served More Than One Generation

Cartoon went beyond irony into falsehood. Contrary to the illustrated scene, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has, in fact, been calling on the Palestinians to join in direct talks, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has adamantly refused. Most recently, President Obama and the Arab League have joined Israel's call, but Mr. Abbas has yet to respond.

A Saturday morning staple since the 1950′s, and before that, they ran reel-to-reel at theaters. Something that marketing experts have been using for a long while, is to bring back a cartoon franchise after around 20 years; this has long since been a way to sell nostalgia to our next generation. What cartoons have remained, or regained popularity enough to serve more than one generation?

1. Looney Tunes
2. Mickey Mouse
3. Superman
4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
5. Tom & Jerry
6. Transformers
7. The Simpsons
8. The Flintstones
9. He-Man
10. The CareBears

Watch Video: Megan Fox And Dominic Monaghan Brawl In Eminem's 'Love The Way You Lie'

Watch the video for Eminem's No. 1 duet with Rihanna "Love The Way You Lie" that chronicles his tumultuous relationship with his ex-wife.A-list actress Megan Fox portrays a sometimes vulnerable, sometimes confrontational Mrs. Eminem, and Dominic Monaghan, who plays Charlie Pace on Lost.

In one moment, they are a happy couple, enjoying each other's company.

In another, they are wrestling, and punching each other in the face.

When Rihanna received the call to sing on the Eminem song, she jumped at the opportunity.

It was believable for us to do a record like that, but it was also something that needed to be done, and the way he did it was so clever.

Monaghan, a big Eminem fan, worked hard preparing for the role.

He listened to Eminem's first two albums, and tried to get into a "nasty, dirty" frame of mind, he told MTV.

Fox donated her fee for appearing in the video to the Santa Monica, California based Sojourn, a program for battered women and their children.
